Confession: There is not a weekend I don’t grab a scoop of chocolate ice cream. It’s become my ritual during our date nights. It’s sweet, it’s delicious, and honestly, why not?
Here in South Florida, it is always warm and sunny. There’s no better way to cool off than with a melting scoop of ice cream (or two…or three). We are so blessed to have really great ice cream shops that I often frequent and support.
So if you are looking to satisfy that sweet tooth or take the kids out of the house, here are the best ice cream shops to visit in South Florida!
1. Sloan’s
329 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, FL 33432
Sloan’s is my go-to when it comes to ice cream. The epitome of sweet. Fun fact about Sloan’s: their first location opened in West Palm Beach (1999) and their goal was to create an “ice cream utopia” experience. Honestly, they nailed it. All of their locations are decked out in hot pink and stocked full of toys. Kids love it here, heck I love it here! Be sure to add Sloan’s to your summer bucket list!
2. Cream
520 Linton Blvd Ste 102 Delray Beach, FL 33444
Love this local ice cream shop in Delray, right off of Linton. They offer a variety of desserts such as ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato, brownies, and banana bread. The quality of the ice cream is top-notch.
3. Crème Bistro
410 E Linton Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33483
Oh, how I love the Crème Bistro! A local French Bistro featuring artisanal ice cream, smoothies, sandwiches, coffee, and more. “Death by Chocolate” is what I typically order here (see photo above). They have live music here often and it’s a cool spot to hang out and grab something sweet. Highly recommend!
4. Kilwin’s
265 N Pompano Beach Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33062
One thing about Kilwin’s, they immediately draw you in with the aroma of fresh homemade waffle cones. I don’t even eat waffle cones, but the fragrance is irresistible. Kilwin’s has been in the ice cream game for a long time (since 1947 actually.) They’re a household name and have locations all over the U.S. They’re the O.G. IMHO. One of their advantages is not only high-quality ice cream and chocolate but their convenient locations. Deerfield, Pompano, Delray, they are all over So Flo!
5. Sprinkles & Scoops
899 E Palmetto Park Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33432
After a long day on the beach, Sprinkles & Scoops is the place to be. Conveniently located off the A1A, perfect walking distance from the sand to sweetness. Come support this awesome small business!
6. Cherry Smash
8000 Wiles Rd, Coral Springs, FL 33067
If you like nostalgia, you are gonna LOVE Cherry Smash. Literally, step back in time at this old-fashioned ice cream parlor. There is so much stuff in here you can’t see the walls. Everyone should try at least once.
7. Girl’s Strawberry U-Pick
14466 S Military Trail, Delray Beach, FL 33484
This is a fantastic place, a local sweet tooth haven! Not only is it an ice cream shop, but they are also a strawberry patch, petting zoo, candy shop, pizza parlor, and more! It’s a family-owned business and an absolutely local favorite. We come here often with the kids and it is such a fun and unique experience. I was extremely impressed with the homemade ice cream. Easily one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had in South Florida – no kidding! Come check it out, The Girls will certainly leave an impression on you!
8. Sugar Milk Boba & Dessert Bar
495 N FEDERAL HWY, BOCA RATON, FL 33432
In the heart of Boca is this sweet shop Sugar Milk. Adorable branding and yummy desserts immediately draw you into this place. They offer a variety of products such as boba tea, milkshakes, smoothies, and baked goods. You know me, I got the chocolate milkshake with rainbow sprinkles- ya girl was happy! Check it out, let me know what you think!
9. Whit’s Frozen Custard
3551 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33431
I was so happy when Whit’s opened up a new location in Boca! Everything is yummy here, but the best product is the Brownie Blitz which features their signature vanilla custard… and let me tell you! It is a DREAM. I am all about chocolate, however, I make an exception here because their vanilla is JUST THAT GOOD! Next time, I’ll get a photo of that one. In the meantime, please go visit Whit’s!
10. Mammamia Gelato Italiano
1434 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
“Mammamia!” The perfect name for this local gelato shop. My taste buds were in disbelief, seriously the gelato here is SO good! We discovered Mammamia through the Miami Culinary Tour (which by the way, I strongly recommend!) Located right in the heart of South Beach, just steps away from Ocean Ave. Great location and certainly gets the job done!
11. HolyShakes
5030 Champion Blvd, Suite G-14, Boca Raton, FL 33496
Another local favorite that is getting all the press lately is our beloved HolyShakes. They have two locations, one in Boca Raton and one in Doral. It is an absolute must-see with its eclectic decor and over-the-top flavors and toppings. Create your own custom shake and make all your non-Florida friends jealous!
Conclusion:
As you can see there are plenty of sweet shops in South Florida, and this is just the beginning. With the summer officially here (which sometimes feels like it never really left), ice cream is always a good idea. I’ll continue to add more shops to this list as Florida continues to boom and grow. So, tell me, where is your favorite place to get ice cream? I will take any opportunity to try something new! 😅
Thanks as always for your support!
